We have a system here running it on Windows 10 with no issues. 2/13/2015 – 1. Is this version Windows 64-bit compatible? My Medical V9 is not. Once V12 is installed can I transfer all my V9.
Response From Speech Recognition Solutions: 1. Yes, DMPE2 is 65-bit compatible 2.
Assuming you can still run your old version, you can export the commands (macros) and import them into DMPE2 3. Nuance is a little hard to tie down in terms of the number of installation you can do with a single license, but it's at least 4, and you can request additional installs if you have the need. So yes, as long as it's for your use, you can install DMPE2 on multiple computers. 8/14/2014 – Does this work WELL on VMWare on Mac; also does it work(dictate AND correct) in citrix based EHRs such as Epic Response From Speech Recognition Solutions: Although DMPE2 will work on a Mac when using one of the virtualized OS products such as VMWare or Parallels, the transition from real to virtual OS tends to slow things down slightly. Also, using a USB microphone with programmable buttons is often tricky to set up.
For this reason, if it will work with your planned use of your Mac, we recommend running DMPE2 using an actual operating system run via Bootcamp. In this scenario you are using Apple Hardware with a Windows operating system and it runs beautifully.
Unfortunately the Mac version of Dragon (Dragon Dictate and Dragon Dictate Medical) utilize the same high quality speech engine, but other functionality is not nearly as developed in the Mac version compared to the Windows version. My personal set-up is a MacBook Pro running Windows 7 via Bootcamp. It works superbly but does not afford me the easy access to the Mac OS without a reboot. Regarding the EMR question, neither DMPE2 or Dragon Dictate Medical work all that well when the EMR is being presented via Citrix. Basic dictation works well, but since the EMR is on the distant server and not on the same machine on which the speech recognition software is being run, Dragon cannot 'see' what is going on with the dictated document so full 'text control' is lost. This means you cannot edit, correct, and select text by voice.
You can get around this by doing the actual dictation in a simple word-processing program and copying and pasting to your EMR, but this gets a bit annoying. When the EMR is being presented via Citrix, it is best to use the 'Network' edition of Dragon, which is sold only to institutions and not individuals. The Network Edition of Dragon (Windows only) puts a small 'spy' application called Vsync on the Citrix server which communicates with Dragon on the local machine and allows a user to have full text control. So you know, a new cloud-based version of Dragon is on the scene. It's called Dragon Direct and is a tiny application that compressed your speech and sends it to the cloud for processing. It's extremely quick and accurate and is sold only to institutions and on a monthly subscription basis. At this point it works only with a Windows operating system.
8/13/2014 – How well does this work in VMWare or Parallels on the Mac; also does this allow dictation AND correction in a Citrix EHR. Response From Speech Recognition Solutions: Dragon (all versions) will work on a Mac with a virtual widows operating system and I have tested it with both VMWare and Parallels.
There will, though, be a bit of a delay and sometimes it requires some tweaking to get the audio signal from the real to virtual OS. Personally I run Windows via Bootcamp and find this a great solution, although at the loss of use of the Mac OS.
As to working in a Citrix based EMR, such as Epic, DMPE2 will dictate into the EMR but will not have full 'text control' so you will not be able to select and correct text by voice. You can work around this by dictating into Word, WordPad or DragonPad and pasting back into the EMR.
The best solutions when using an EMR via Citrix is to use the Network Edition of Dragon or the recently released Dragon Direct software (another Nuance product using cloud-based speech recognition and run directly from the Citrix server and not from your local machine.) 4/15/2014 – 1. Is podiatry one of the specialties covered by Medical Practice version 2? We have 4 practitioner in office. Response From Speech Recognition Solutions: Yes, podiatry is one of the specific vocabularies available in DMPE2. It is necessary to purchase a license for each user.
Like most resellers, we are able to offer volume discounts, so please contact us for information on specific pricing. Dragon Medical works in most electronic medical records. You can see a complete list of compatible EMRs at the following Nuance page: Because Doctor's Partner isn't listed does not mean it won't work. What some users do is purchase the street version of Dragon (often available for as little as $99) and try it.
It doesn't have some of the functionalities and the vocabulary of the medical version, but it uses the same speech engine and general technology, so it will serve as a 'proof of concept' of Dragon in your specific EMR. I recently updated Windows 8 to Windows 10 on my laptop. After this upgrade dragon medical practice edition 3 appeared to open normally and picked up my power II microphone. I was asked to speak into the microphone for Dragon adjust the microphone settings and this went fine. I was also able to create a new user and can open and close this user.
I am unable however to use the microphone (or turn it on) with dragon in any spot (eg Microsoft word or anywhere else) other than the search windows box in windows 10. I have cordana turned off.
I uninstalled and reinstalled dragon with the same problem. I can therefore conclude the dragon is installed correctly but windows 10 is stopping it working in all areas other than the search windows box. Are there any ways to get dragon to work including being able to use the command keys on the powermic II microphone or will I be forced to go back to windows 8. Christopher A. I have also recently written to them and am awaiting a proper response. As is usual Nuance we will blame Microsoft and Microsoft we will blame Nuance and nothing will happen.
I have now got the program to work but only partially by going into settings, typing in troubleshooting into the search box. I then click on run programs made for previous versions Windows, click next.
I then choose Dragon Medical. This results in a 'Dragon Medical appears to be running in Windows compatibility mode which may result in errors. We recommend disabling compatibility mode for NatSpeak.exe program' every time Dragon Medical is launched. The program keys on the powermic II work on an off. When the microphone does not turn on I put the cursor into the search Windows box and then unable to turn the microphone on and off. There is no doubt in my mind that the problem lies with both windows 10 and Dragon Medical competing to use the microphone. It will be great when there is a fix.
